If you’re reading this, it’s likely you’re experiencing unwanted behaviours from your dog and it’s causing you lots of stress. Believe me, I know how you feel.
Hi, I’m Matt and I’m the face behind South Ribble Canine Services. I’ve been working with dogs and their owners for over 5 years now, and that experience has shown me patterns that most people never get to see.
My journey into dog training started with my own reactive dog. I spent months trying everything I could think of, but nothing worked. I reached the point where the pleasure of owning a dog was no longer apparent and it was having a toll on my own quality of life. I reached my breaking point, which put me onto a pursuit to learn everything there is behind training a dog. I worked with multiple trainers across the country, attended dozens of workshops, read dozens of books, spent thousands of hours training my dog and even ended up completing a degree in canine behaviour. My stress had turned into a passion.
Through that experience, I realised many approaches were missing something. Instead of only focusing simply on rewards, I developed a philosophy built around building a strong relationship with the dog, building motivation, building reliable communication and delivering clear feedback. This all helps give the dog peace of mind and clarity, and gives the owner something just as valuable: a training approach that actually makes sense.
What I ask of my clients is commitment, time and energy. In return, I provide honest feedback with reliable and consistent guidance so you’ll always know exactly what to do and what the next steps are. Every session is built around you and your dog, not a one size fits all plan. You won’t be left guessing between sessions and you’ll never feel like you’re on your own with it.
This is for owners who are done guessing and ready to put the work in. If you’re committed to making a change and you’re willing to show up consistently for your dog, we’ll get results.
My standards are simple: be consistent, be honest, and show up for your dog.

I know how frustrating it can be when your dog is not easy on walks. Whether that is pulling on the lead, struggling around other dogs, or just not settling properly, it takes the enjoyment out of it and leaves you unsure of what the right approach actually is.
I am Laurence, and having worked with a wide range of dogs I can tell you that no two are the same. Some are confident and energetic, others are more nervous and need time and patience to build trust. That is why I do not believe in a one size fits all approach, and why every dog I work with is treated as an individual from day one.
I bring two years of hands on experience to every walk, and I am currently studying towards a degree in canine behaviour, which shapes the way I work with dogs day to day. My focus is on calm, structured walks that are tailored to the individual dog, whether that is a group walk or one to one time where it is needed.
For you as an owner, that means knowing your dog is not just being exercised, but properly handled, genuinely understood and kept safe at all times. For your dog, it means a more relaxed and positive experience every single time. As a dog owner myself I understand how much that matters. We want our dogs to feel safe and to have fun, and that is exactly what I am here to deliver.
I take pride in being reliable, consistent and genuinely invested in every dog I work with. You will always know what is going on, with regular updates so you are never left wondering how your dog got on.
